Liz Prountzos Building an RPM Community in Australia

25/04/2025

As I listened to Liz talk about some of the struggles of getting RPM going and how to get people connected it made me think. Well really all of it made me think but I though a lot about our island and how can we make it into a community.

There is such a theme of people feeling helpless, hopeless and alone in all of this.

So I took a few notes on her how to and will see what I can run with as time continues.

I just started this step: basically is it offering mentoring to parents. It is where the parent takes a video and sends it to the provider and them we have a zoom and go through what is working and where we can tweak. Offering advice and encouragement. It is a strong tool. I used it a lot with Alex Hopwood in the UK and still do sometimes. We all want to know we are doing our best . (no...I didn't come up with it our of my head:)

Online study groups. There is one that is the book study by Donna Shank once a month. It is a book a month. And Soma is doing on online workshop on her pink book on 3 May.

https://www.eventbrite.com/.../zoom-workshop-developing... this is for Soma's workshop on Speech as a procedural skill.

They set up annual workshops to build up skills .

And they have built up a community. They have a dinner on occasion to support each other and families.

Sometimes the provider facilitates a training with Soma on zoom .

Lots of ideas to contemplate for all of us. And I am sure we can come up with more to support each other.
