Opening the Conference
The conference opened with Soma welcoming us all. The amount of people from all over the world! Belgium , France, Australia....it is spreading voice worldly.
Jacqueline Dorshorst was the first to speak. She is a bright spot in this world. I just recently finished my level 2 with her and she is a wealth of information and support. She shared videos to help build skills and how to bring out spellers on. I took a few notes:
-adding writing into the lesson can help with focus as well as skill building.
-when working with individuals that stem and it makes them higher, help them keep the left hand down to help self regulation.
-watch for words that 'pop', they tend to be the first letter triggered.
The biggest one for me: slow down...especially yourself. (Continually working on this)
Emotional trust is always the first step in spelling and communicating.
When going into a discussion. Begin with a lesson or begin with current events. It is through the lesson or happening that language and conversation will happen. (This was a take away I got from many of the speakers. )
